Come Slay with Me Â
You need this book if Â
- You're a people pleaser by day and an overthinker by night.Â
- The negative voice in your head is the meanest mean girl you know.
- You feel broken and believe you must hide that brokenness to be loved.Â
- You're tired. Like fall-down-after-running-a-marathon tired.Â
In this emotionally charged how-to guide, you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll discover eye-opening lessons about Â
- The mask you're wearing. The one you hide behind when you say everything is "just fine" when it's not.Â
- Your unrealistic expectations. The goal-setting tactics you're deploying to get ahead could be what's holding you back.Â
- The difference between struggling and suffering. Being a mother is a struggle - it always has been - but your suffering is optional.Â
Brave, supportive, and insightful, the stories and advice in this book will encourage you to live more confidently, enjoy the present, and become your best self - as a woman, a mother, and beyond.

- What I appreciated most about this book was that the goal isn't to be a better mom, do more, make more, or get more people to like you. There's no repeating shallow affirmations or using the power of imagination to make six figures. It's a real look at how you talk to yourself and treat yourself and why. Then it has you figure out a better way. The excersizes are powerful yet quick and easy and there's no homework. The messages have really stuck with me. "The struggle is real. Suffering is optional." "You are always a new parent." I appreciate the author's perspective as a mom and studier of moms. She draws from different studies as well as her own market research. I feel like it does a good job of reaching across a lot of aisles and being useful to all kinds of moms. I'm a first time SAHM of a one-year-old, but I can see a four time single mom who works outside the house getting just as much use. I was going to loan out my copy, but I know I'm going to want to read this every few years, so I'm gifting it to three other moms right now and I'm sure I'll gift more.
- I'm not a mom, but Katherine is a local author here in Richmond that I've met and have seen speak a couple times, so I have been waiting for this book to come out for months! When it finally did, I immediately downloaded the audiobook and devoured it. The metaphor for the self-doubt ALL women struggle with, and having to slay it like a dragon is SO GOOD. This book is important to all women, not just moms. I highly recommend this and have already gifted a hardcover to a friend and will be buying at least two more copies to share with people. I love it!
- I love the metaphor of the dragon of self doubt. While this book didn't offer anything wildly new or different, I found it helpful and encouraging. Unlike a lot of books targeted towards mothers, it felt inclusive to all women. The metaphor of dragon slaying has really stuck with me and this is a book I could see myself revisiting.
