Catalogers hold very specific types of power when they describe people, families, and corporate bodies. When creating a personal name authority record, for example, catalogers determine the authorized name by which an individual will be known, then identify a few characteristics of the individual that distinguish them from others, while balancing their judgment with respect for the individual’s self-concept and management of their public identity. This is a powerful position, and that power must be exercised ethically.

As name authority control moves toward an identity management model, catalogers are taking on new roles, authority data is used in innovative ways, and libraries increasingly interact with non-library datasets and name disambiguation algorithms. During this transition, it is imperative that the library community reflect on the ethical questions that arise from its historical and emerging practices.

This collection explores and develops this framework through theoretical and practice-based essays, stories, interviews, taxonomies, content analyses, and other methods. As it explores ethical questions in a variety of settings, this book will deepen readers’ understanding of names, identities, and library catalogs. The chapters from this volume are intended to spark conversations among librarians, archivists, library technologists, library administrators, and library and information science students.

Jane Sandberg received her MLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is the Electronic Resources Librarian at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon, where she coordinates library cataloging and systems. Her research interests include linked data approaches to name authority control, queer and trans local histories, open source software in rural communities, and historical dimensions of online transgender activism.

• This version - I'm told by a native French-speaking pastor whom I respect enormously - is the best version of the Bible. Why? Because I suspect the language of this version is more accessible - a big achievement for a language whose tendency to formality can be difficult to grasp. This version (société biblique de genève) is an extension of Louis Ségond Bible, first published in 1910 and revised in the 1970s. I find this French Bible to be very readable. The font size is small, however. And, those interested in this Bible should know that it has a larger cousin (which is not sold on ). I own the larger cousin with the larger font size, and it is this larger version which I recommend to others. The MSRP of the larger one is €22, if purchased in Europe. But you should expect to pay around $100 or more if you try to purchase it from the U.S. If you're price-sensitive or you want to consult a French Bible only occasionally or if font size does not matter to you, content yourself with the cheaper and "smaller font" cousin, which is the subject of this review. • Wast of money. All this info can be found for free. No secrets here. Very short book on a large topic, which much of is not covered here , or the author is unaware or not trained on. I wish I could get my 9.99 back.
• I was afraid this book was going to be too overloaded with obscure details regarding the subject matter. Many authors/technical experts get carried away in that department. The scope of the lesson is perfectly understandable and it covers every question anyone might have regarding pressing and cleaning comic books for the first time. It stands alone as the only how-to guide for cleaning and pressing comics. Considering it costs 15 dollars per comic book to press and clean while waiting months to get it back from the presser, it's a no brainer to learn how to increase your collections value yourself!
• I bought this book to learn how to press my own comics. When trying to ask for advice on how to do this on CGC & CBCS forums I was told it was not allowed. I'm surprised at how restrictive some companies are with pressing techniques. It was a relief to be able to find a book like this recently released. At over 100+ pages I feel that it is easy to understand and I used the advice in it to order all of the necessary equipment I need to begin comic pressing. Will update my review in a couple weeks after I've tested the techniques on some guinea pig comics.

• This book IS SPECTACULAR! The author does a marvelous job pointing out every detail in the pressing and cleaning process. I especially appreciate the specific instructions on building a humidity chamber, pressing square bound comics, and pressing modern books with glossy pages.
• Over all the book is good. Being that this is about pressing and cleaning comics the pictures shown as examples and for reference are lacking quality. I was interested in washing and in the table of contents refers to 1.5% and on pg. 46 talks to 3% guess I'll experiment 0-0. It brings another level of interest to comic-book collecting.
• Loved the ease of access diving into this book. Very well explained without trying to get too technical. An absolute must have for anyone interested in trying it themselves. Thanks Jacob!

• Title caught my eye. I am the age when you think about these things and are looking for answers. I read the book very slowly so I could understand what she was saying. I have been questioning a lot of things lately but I have now learned that I am pretty normal. Thank you so very much.
• I took an online class using this book and I learned much from accepting this process of bringing together all the different yet completely related stages of my life. I am glad I bought a hard copy. At 66 years old it is lovely to see the fair young maiden alive and well within me coming out to pick roses, as well as the seasoned wise women navigating husband, family and friends with acceptance and love. If this truly is the second half I am loving the process and my spiritual connection to God. Wish I had known then what I know now but then I would not be where I am would I??
• "The Second Half of Life" can be used for those of us in the iffy third, or even quarter tiny bit of life. I don't know if I have 10 or 20 years left of activity, or time to change my external options. But Angeles also encourages the reader to consider inward change, picking up old ideas and running with them. Or, perhaps, to drop the mask and go through new gates, embracing aging as a time for calming down. Too often we think of goal setting as a call to wild and crazy. I'm reconsidering, and believe it might be to embrace contemplative but just as crazy options.
